Представлен обзор природных растительных соединений − источников новых экологически безопасных гербицидов, так назы-ваемых биогербицидов, которые основаны на соединениях, образуемых живыми организмами. Согласно реестру CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service), среди 24 млн органических соединений выделяется большая группа вторичных метаболитов лекарственных и ароматических растений. Рассмотрены модели действия вторичных метаболитов на клеточном уровне. Проанализированы фак-торы, влияющие на образование вторичных метаболитов. Создание биогербицидов на основе аллелохимических веществ, со-держащихся в лекарственных и ароматических растениях, дает возможность использовать природные соединения в борьбе с сорняками в посевах сельскохозяйственных культур.
