Evaluation of coagulopathy helps to assess severity of liver damage since prothrombin and other coagulation factors are produced by the liver. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of complex plant supplement on hemostasis in rats with D-galactosamine/ hydrochloride -induced hepatitis. The mentioned model of liver damage is known to be identical in its biochemical and morphological features to viral hepatitis in human. The studied complex plant supplement consists of Hypecoum erectus L., Hedysarum dauricum, Glycyrhhiza uralensis Fisch., Calendula officinalis and Scutellaria baicalensis dry extracts. In order to analyze the morphofunctional state of the liver a set of histological, histochemical and histoensymological methods was applied. The results demonstrated significant growth of albumin, fibrinogen and prothrombin index levels evident of the improvements in synthetic function of the liver starting from the first point of the control on the 7th day of the experiment in addition to ALT, AST, GGTP and ALP decrease. The degree of hypocoagulation was estimated by comparison of fibrinogen level, partial thromboplastin time (PTT), prothrombin time (PT) along with prothrombin ratio (PR) and international normalized ratio (INR) between control and experiment groups both exposed to D-GalN.
