Composition and content of alkamides were studied in above- and underground parts of Echinacea purpurea (variety Tanyusha), grown in Belgorod and Moscow regions, differed by natural and climatic conditions. Application of UPLC-MS method has allowed identifying in extracts from various organs of Echinacea 11 major alkamides. Total content of alkamides in inflorescences and roots of Echinacea was respectively 0.4 and 1.5 mg per 1 g of dry weight. In the leaves and stems were found only their trace amounts. A comparative study of alkamides in Echinacea plants, grown in two regions of Russia, showed that the total content of alkamides in the grass and roots from Moscow region at 6 and 1.2 times higher than that in the samples from Belgorod region. It was shown that natural and climatic conditions of growing Echinacea have a particularly strong influence on the relative content of individual alkamides in the roots of Echinacea.
