The results of comparative study of Origanum vulgare L. morphotyres biology productivity to essential oil content and yield show the presence of differences in the cultivated oregano herbage productivity due to such morphotypes characteristics as the height of plants, the number and leaf-bearing of shoots. In result the greatest essential oil content and yield marked in plants belonging to low-growing and compact morphotypes with the pink color of flowers (in 2,4-8 times higher than control values). The obtained results confirm the correctness of oregano selection for essential oil content on the basis of morphotypes traits.
