The review is devoted to the topical direction for search of microorganisms-producers of biologically active substances. The creation of screening methods for identifying promising micro-organisms from diverse taxa, synthesizing various biologically active substances is an actual problem. The advantage created by the screening methods is their simplicity, which allows you to quickly search for the producers among the large number of microorganisms and to identify the most productive and promising of them for further study at the decision of applied and fundamental research. The screening methods can identify microorganisms that synthesize biologically diverse substances, ranging from Pro-vitamins, water-soluble polysaccharides with antitumor activity, inhibitors of enzymes, biopolymers, possess hypolipidemic, acid-forming, pathogenic activity, etc. Great section of the survey devoted to the identification of microorganisms-biodestruktorov organic and inorganic substances. It should be emphasized that biologically active substances are widely used in various fields of national economy, and the demand for the most productive strains of microorganisms continues to increase. The material presented covers the experimental work of domestic and foreign authors in the late 90-ies of the 20 century and beginning of 21st century.
