THE CHEMICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE SALVIA OFFICINALIS L. ROOTS TRITERPENOIDS: 2α, 21β, 22α-TRIHYDROXYOLEANOLIC ACID

In our previous study we have isolated and identified some triterpene components being extracted from salvia officinalis roots. The compounds isolated are oleanolic, ursolic, euscaphic and 19-desoxyeuscaphic acids identified by their 1H NMR and mass spectral data. Ethanol extract of salvia officinalis roots was evaporated and treated with water-chloroform mixture, and then the resulting chloroform extract – with water solution of alkali. The precipitate obtained by adding acid solution was separated by means of SG column chromatography, petroleum ether – chloroform and chloroform – methanol mixtures being used as eluents. In this study we have continued eluating a column by mix of chloroform and methanol in the gradient mode from fractions 113−114 (3% of methanol) have emitted substance V. This compound were isolated in addition to before described compounds. It is a new triterpenoid –2α, 21β, 22α–trihydroxyoleanolic acid. The identification of this compound was carried out by the spectral data of MS and 1H NMR.
