Development of effective and safe antimicrobial, antiviral, wound healing and regenerative action, drugs of herbal origin is an
important issue of Pharmacy. Among the substances for making such herbal medicines with broad pharmacological activities are: eucalimin
and estifan. Eucalimin is derived from the leaves and shoots of eucalyptus (Eucaliptus viminalis Labill.) Sem. myrtle (Myrtaceae)
and estifan − dry extract derived from the herb Echinacea purpurea (Echinacea purpurea) (L.) Moench .A liquid drug form
(LDF) was made using the above mentioned herbal substances consisting of methylcellulose (MC) or sodium alginate as the base, for
external use and methods of analysis were developed.
This article presents results of developing standardization methods for identity tests and quantitative determination of phenolaldehydes
and phenolcarbonic acids using spectrophotometry method for liquid dosage forms consisting of eucalimin and estifan.
