High telomerase activity (TA) in thyroid tissue sample could indicate malignancy, but on preoperative stage evaluation of TA in fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) sample is considered to be ineffective due to inadequate quality of sample. Core-needle biopsy (CNB) of thyroid gives material of potentially higher amount and quality, but TA has not been measured in CNB thyroid samples before. The aim of this work is to study the level of telomerase activity in thyroid nodules after CNB.
