The blue-green algae Spirulina platensis is one of the most promising targets for the research. Spirulina contains a unique combination of natural proteins, polysaccharides, lipids, minerals, free and bound amino acids, vitamins, fatty acids, carotenoids, pigments, sterols, hydrocarbons. The study of the pharmacological properties of spirulina showed its activity in the normalization of iron deficiency, metabolism, reducing the excess sugar in the blood, a positive influence on the condition and functioning of almost all organs and body systems. The lack of toxicity, high efficiency, nutritional value of spirulina − all these reveal a number of prospects to use spirulina as a food source for humans and animals. This article describes the four combinations of culture media for the cultivation of biomass Spirulina platensis, based on water from a natural source, fresh water, water from the Caspian Sea. Media combinations have been assigned letters «M», «I», «IM», «S». Biomass for the experiment was grown by the enrichment cultures in conditions non-limited by the light. The biomass obtained after accumulation divided into four parts and has been adapted for two weeks. Culture of Spirulina was adapted to «M», «I», «IM» nutrient media. When growing a culture of Spirulina in the «S» nutrient media cells agglutinate occurred. Thus, culture medium «S» in a further experiment was not used. The biomass obtained in experimental media was studied at the production characteristics and biochemical parameters. The results were compared with those obtained in the study of biomass grown on medium Zarukk. When comparing the production characteristics of biomass grown in the test medium is the best result was shown by the «IM» nutrient medium. When comparing the biochemical indices of biomass grown in the test medium is the best result was shown by the «M» nutrient medium. Thus, the experiment proved the feasibility of the use of new culture media for the cultivation of microalgae Spirulina platensis.
