The influence of the amino acid-precursors on the growth and biosynthetic characteristics of Claviceps purpurea (Fr.) Tul. sapro-phytic culture lab strain E-2409 VILAR was determined. It was found that in the joint presence in substrate of amino acids tryptophan, proline and methionine there is a positive effect both on the amount of ergot alkaloids accumulation and their composition. It has been found that excessive doses of tryptophan have a negative impact on the growth and biosynthetic characteristics of the fungus.
