Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill. (family Schisandraceae) is a valuable medicinal plant. It is the source of new effective adap-togenic drugs. This fact creates a tendency to expand the scope of its medical application at the present time. The fruits or seeds of Schisandra chinensis are used as a medicinal plant in the official medicine because they have the highest efficiency. All parts of the plant are used in ethnomedicine, including leaves, root bark, stems. The main biological activity of Schisandra chinensis is due to the presence of dibenzocyclooctane lignans in it. These compounds are dimers of phenylpropane, consisting of two C6-C3 propane residues. This group of biologically active compounds of Schisandra chinensis is called schisandrins (more than 45 compounds have been identified) and found in various organs. In addition to lignans, other classes of biologically active compounds, such as flavonoids, terpenoids, essential oils, fatty acids, are found in Schisandra chinensis. Herbal drugs and food supplements of Schisandra chinensis are not doping and do not cause damage to health. They increase mental and physical activity, increase the body's adaptability to negative factors, increase visual acuity, especially night vision, im-prove memory, optimize endocrine system functions, show hypolipidemic, hepatoprotective, antioxidant effects, etc. A modern range of herbal drugs from Schisandra chinensis is limited only by tincture of seeds and fruits in the pharmaceutical market in Russia. This makes its expansion relevant. We carry out the comprehensive studies on the development of a solid dosage form such as tablets with Schisandra chinensis seeds now. The optimal composition of adjuvants has been selected and the rational technology for the preparation of tablets has been proposed by the experimental biopharmaceutical studies in vitro. The microscopic analysis of the original plant material and the ob-tained tablets was carried out to test the possibility of "end-to-end" standardization in the row plant material to herbal drug. The diag-nostic external and microscopic signs are found out as a result of the carried out experimental researches. The obtained result is con-sistent with the literature data and allows to confirm the authenticity of the seeds of Schisandra chinensis. The anatomical diagnostic features characteristic for the investigational medicinal plant raw material were revealed in the study of Schisandra chinensis leaf tablets.
