The results of a comparative immunoenzymatic study of VEGF in blood serum and tumor homogenates from 54 primary patients with ovarian cancer are presented. The control group consisted of 120 practically healthy women of the same age and reproductive status. It was found that the median VEGF in the serum of patients with ovarian cancer was highly higher than in the control, it is not related to the age of the patients and their reproductive status, accompanying somatic and gynecological diseases. At the same time, the serum VEGF content significantly increased with an increase in the stage of ovarian cancer and in the presence of dissemination of the tumor process along the peritoneum. At the same time, the serum VEGF content in patients with ovarian cancer did not reflect the presence of tumor cells in abdominal washings and the presence of ascites, was not associated with the histological structure of the tumors. A direct, reliable correlation was found between the content of VEGF in the serum and tumor tissue of patients with ovarian cancer. There was no association of tissue VEGF content with the age of the patients, the reproductive function, concomitant somatic and gynecological diseases, but a statistically insignificant increase in median tissue VEGF was observed with an increase in the stage of the disease and CA-125 concentration in serum. A significantly higher content of tissue VEGF was detected in the presence of dis-semination of the tumor process on the peritoneum, but there was no correlation of the VEGF content with the presence of ascites, tumor cells in abdominal washings and with the histological structure of the tumor.
