Osteosarcomas and chondrosarcomas are common malignant tumors of bones with different etiologies, therapy schemes and
prognosis. The prognosis for osteosarcomas and chondrosarcomas, as in any malignant process, largely depends on the stage of the
disease at the stage of initiation of therapy. Timely diagnosis remains the decisive factor in the fight against oncoclogical deseases. MicroRNA
is a class of regulatory RNAs that are promising as molecular markers of various human diseases, including oncology. The article
presents the results of a comparative quantitative assessment of microRNA-21 levels in the blood plasma of patients with osteosarcoma,
chondrosarcoma and a control group that included healthy donors. It was shown that the level of microRNA-21 was statistically
significantly 2.98 times higher in plasma samples of patients with osteosarcoma and 3.44 times in plasma samples of patients with
chondrosarcoma of bone compared to the control group. ROC analysis was performed to assess the diagnostic potential of determining
the level of microRNA-21 for osteosarcoma. The AUC value was 0.89.
