THE METALS ASSAY FOR EXPERTISE OF BIOMATERIAL

The study objective was a comparative research of possibilities of metal analysis methods in forensic chemistry and hospital toxicology an example from expert practice. Materials and methods. The study objects was blood samples of humans with suspected for heavy metal poisoning and cadaveric biomaterial (blood, liver, kidney, brain). The methods was inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, inversion voltammetry. Results and discussion. The expert case of human group poisoning by metal compounds was reviewed. The inversion voltammetry in hospital toxicology use to analysis body fluids samples. This certified inversion voltammetry method allows to analyze compounds of cooper, lead, cadmium. Human blood samples that can have high metals concentration was analyzed. In blood samples of all pacient cadmium was detected. A 40 years old man an excess of lethal cadmium concentration in the blood was found, wich is 1,10 μg/ml. After 4 days this man died. When analyzed the cadaveric biomaterial of this man by mass spectrometry with inductively-coupled plasma 16 metals in blood, liver, kidney, brain was quantitated. The cadmium concentration in all samples not exceed the lethal level. The thallium concentration in liver was at lethal level. The thallium concentration in kidneys was exceed lethal level 6,7 times, wich is 74,84 μg/g. The thallium concentration in blood was 2,91 μg/ml, did not exceed lethal level. Conclusion. A comparative analysis of possibilities of forensic chemistry method and hospital toxicology method at expertise of metal compounds was given. Cadmium and thallium have similar oxidation potentials peaks in inversion voltametry. For this reason, false positive results for cadmium of inversion voltammetry analysis in body fluids expertise was obtained. Cadmium and thallium in biomaterial are differentiated by method inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Also possible by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry quantify 15 poisonous metals.
