Every year, millions of toxic substances and individual elements are thrown into the environment by the enterprises of industry and agriculture: cadmium, lead, mercury, etc. Adverse changes negatively affect the state of human health. The Orenburg region is an unfavorable subject of the Volga Federal District on the disbalance of chemical elements. The toxic element of cadmium is presented in areas with a high content of zinc, copper, lead, etc. And as a result of migration it is found in air, water and food products. The article presents experimental data on the cadmium content in groundwater and soils in the Orenburg region. It has been re-vealed that in the underground waters of the Western and Central Orenburzhye there are exceedances for toxic microelement cadmi-um.
