The study was made about phonological characteristics. Phenological observations were carried out according to standard methods. The introduc-tion practice of growing species of the genus Rhododendron in the conditions of the Central Black Earth Region shows that they can inhabit areas lit by the sun, neutral soils, drought-resistant and winter-resistant. Rhododendrons are characterized by early terms of the beginning of the growing season (mid-April), dynamic growth processes (annual growth of 10–20 cm), which end in late June and provide for hardening of the shoots. The flowering and fruiting of Rhоdodendron species of the Dauricum series are several species-specific, even within the same climate zone. It has been revealed unstable flowering periods, reduced flowering times and freezing of plants in modern conditions of warming, exploration and climate anomalies, species of the ge-nus Rhododendron in the Central Black Earth Region. The strongest winter hardiness and drought-resistance in the Central Black Earth Region showed Rh. ledebourii. A sufficiently high tolerance to adverse weather conditions exhibit Rh. mucronulatum, Rh. sichotense, Rh. dauricum. Rh. ledebourii is most sta-ble in the conditions of the Central Black Earth Region and promising for use in greening the region.
