Hyperthyroid and hypothyroid conditions are conventionally treated with synthetic drugs that suppress or stimulate the activity of the thyroid gland. Along with this, herbal medicines are becoming popular due to less common manifestation of side effects. The development of solid dosage form for oral administration for diseases of the thyroid gland – tablets with dry extract from rhizomes and roots of Potentilla alba L. was described. During the research, the physicochemical and technological properties of the Potentilla alba dry extract and eight compositions of the extract with various excipients were studied: particle size distribution, flowability, compressibility. The optimal composition of the tablet mass, which allows to obtain tablets by direct compression method was developed. The quality characteristics of experimental solid dosage forms were determined: average tablet weight, abrasion re-sistance, weight loss on drying, disintegration, dissolution. The obtained results for the study complied with the requirements of the Russian State Phar-macopoeia XIII edition. The results of the evaluation of the quality of experimental samples in accordance with the Pharmacopoeial monograph project «Potentilla rhizomes and roots dry extract, 150 mg tablets» are presented, confirming the stability of the developed solid dosage form over the shelf life
