In article discussed the aspects and results of the breeding Oenothera biennis L. (Onagraceae) in All-Russia Research Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (Moscow region) for 20122015. Oenothera biennis L. is a relatively new, high value oilseed crop which has become established as a non-food crop for temperate regions since it is both technically feasible to grow on an agricultural scale and because there is a market for the product. Is showed to morphological characteristics of breeding samples of Oenothera biennis L. The objective of these investigations was the study of breeding Oenothera biennis L. samples for their involvement in the further breeding process, aimed at increasing raw material yielding productivity and improving the fatty oil quality, and also disease resistance. Morphological description is based on the table of the methodology for distinctness, uniformity and stability UPOV varieties of Oenothera L. The breeding samples are significantly superior to the control in seed yield (1626-1936 kg/ha), oil quality (higher content of γ-linolenic acid (8,5-9,4%), differing in the timing of maturation and degree of affection (12-14%) with powdery mildew (Erysiphe spp.) were selected for further breeding. Samples №№ 22, 26-T, 85-R significantly exceed the control on the yield of seeds (17101820 kg/ha) and differ in early maturation. Sample № 90-P has the best performance on the yield of seeds (1936 kg/ha), but ripens 2-3 weeks later than the early maturing forms. Sample № 91-Ch are less affected by powdery mildew (12%) and have a better quality of oil (a higher content of γ-linolenic acid (8,5%)) compared to early-maturing samples.
