A STUDY ON MEMBRANE-STABILIZING AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF THE HERBAL REMEDY IN IN VITRO MODELS

The membrane-stabilizing, anti-radical and antioxidant activities of a complex herbal remedy preparation in in vitro models were studied. It was shown that the herbal remedy studied inhibits the process of lipid peroxidation, contributing to the stabilization of biological membranes (IC50=12.6 μg/ml), reduces the intensity of osmotic hemolysis (IC50=0.51 μg/ml), which is apparently due to rutin, luteolin and pectin polysaccharide lemnane included in its composition. Сomplex herbal remedy shows pronounced antioxidant and antiradical properties: it prevents oxidation of β-carotene from peroxide degradation (IC50=18.6 μg/ml) and inhibits lipoprotein degradation in metal oxidized oxidation (IC50=75.3 μg/ml); inactivates reactive molecules: DPPH-radical (IC50=30.2 μg/ml), O2•-radical (IC50=32.7 μg/ml), NO (IC50=0.45 mg/ml) and Fe2+ (IC50=3.3 mg/ml). The revealed activity of the studied herbal remedy is caused by a complex of biologically active substances: flavonoids, terpenoids, polysaccharides, carotenoids, phenol carboxylic acids as well as ascorbic and pantothenic acids included in its composition. In this regard, it is promising and relevant to study the pharmacological activity of this herbal remedy, according to the results of which it will be possible to recommend it in the complex therapy of patients with hypothyroidism, for normalization of metabolic processes in the body.
